You Can Wear a Suit! I'm Wearing Shorts.

Okā¦confidence. Well, since I don't wear a suit, am I unsure of myself? Not really. It's all in the mentality that people have against other people. You can be confident in a button-down shirt and basketball shorts for all I care. Or, even pajamas. Just because you're wearing a suit does not mean you're displaying an incredible amount of confidence. Look at the many people (in suits) that make presentation with their legs shaking like a salt shaker. They don't seem very confident.
Lastly, "the norm". Were Burt and Jon Jacobs from Life as Good, the norm? They made a presentation last year in a t-shirt, shorts, and sandalsā¦.my idols. It is important to note that in some classes here, it is a requirement to wear a suit for presentations or the professor will deduct points. Are you kidding me? I'm going to lose points by being different? Way to engage in conformity, Bryant.
To finish up here, I guess the whole suit thing might be corporate culture, but they shouldn't be restricting you to wearing suits five days a week. If you get your work done, that is fantastic. That should be the only rule. As the saying in kindergarten goes, don't judge a book by its cover. It is what is inside that counts. Wear a Hawaiian shirt with plaid pants-whatever makes you happy. Be different, try new things, and remember, you can feel confident and powerful when you're in a speedo making a presentation on management practices.
